Mini DVD – introduced in the 2000’s as an affordable domestic camcorder format. Standard DVD measures 12cm and can store up to 4.7gb of data. Mini DVD measures 8cm and can store up to 1.4gb of data. A double-sided disc was also available. A Mini DVD could up to 30 minutes of standard definition video per side.
Mini DVD can be played in a standard DVD player provided it has been finalized in camera. Non finalized discs, if inserted into a computer appear to be blank as unfinalized files are hidden in the file structure. We have data recovery software that can extract these files and then convert to a usable format such as MP4.
Typically, a Mini DVD will have multiple video files, we can span these together to form one continuous digital file suitable for playback on computers and smart devices. Conversion to edit ready formats is also available.
We can transfer Mini DVD, DVD and Blu Ray to digital files for use in archiving or editing applications. We can supply the files as compressed MP4 or uncompressed MOV.
