DVD to MP4 file conversion

DVD was first released in 1996 and was a very successful optical storage medium as it could be used to record almost any digital data. Recordable DVD’s were available in single layer 4.7GB and dual layer 8.4GB.
Widely used as a video recording format DVD’s could be played back in DVD players and computers alike.
DVD uses MPEG 2 compression in a file structure that limits files to under 1GB. Long recordings are spanned over multiple files. We can recover these files and link them together to make one continuous file.
Recordable media such as DVD-R and DVD+R use a chemical dye formulation sandwiched between the plastic layers (in simple terms). The laser burns the dye causing changes in colour, this is the basis of how the data is stored. Sadly, it seems that the longevity of this media is compromised by exposure to light, heat and humidity and we are seeing DVD’s fail a lot sooner than was expected.
Data Recovery from optical media
We offer data recovery for DVD, Bluray (BD) and CD. In most cases, we can recover files from optical media and convert these video files to files that are compatible with newer technology such as smart TV’s and editing applications.
Recovery of files from unfinalized DVD
DVD and Mini DVD’s that have not been finalized in the camera will appear to be blank when inserted into a computers optical drive. Unfinalized media has hidden files that we can recover using specialized data recovery software. We can recover the hidden files and convert to digital files suitable for editing or viewing on smart TV’s.
Mini DVD to digital file

Mini DVD was a popular domestic camcorder format. Mini DVD’s measure 8 cm and can hold approximately 1.3gb of data. In some cases Mini DVD is double sided.
