Audio reel transfer

Open reel or reel to reel as it’s sometimes referred to is an analogue audio format that has its origins back in the 1930’s. Over the years many companies improved on the system until the Compact Cassette made its debut in around 1963.
It was very popular in the 50’s and 60’s for domestic and professional audio recording and was used to record audio for use with silent film and music.
Audio tape is ¼ inch wide and can have up to 4 audio tracks – 2 in each direction – stereo or mono and 3 different recording speeds – 1 – 7/8 inches per second (ips), 3¾ips or 7½ ips.
Durations vary according to the reel size and record speed.

Depending on circumstances and the quality of the recording, we use a range of professional audio equipment. Basic audio signal conditioning, equalization and signal compression are used to ensure the best quality possible.
A combination or high-quality audio recording hardware and audio editing software is used to reduce noise and enhance the audio recording.

We can transfer quarter inch audio reel to digital files for use in archiving or editing applications. We can supply the files as WAV, MP3 or almost any other audio file type.
